Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: nne Wind Stength: 10/18 Surf / Sea State: lumpy then smooth Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: 14 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 24.78 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 18.88 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Not hte best of forecasts for here in Felixstowe, a week of northerly winds
the worst direction - it was supposed to be nne today which is still cross
off making it gusty :( Mag and I had breakfast at The Dip and it was breezy
and ne so looking okay but cloudy and chilly after the hot weather of last
week. I came home to get the trailor and went back to The Dip, I got out to
unlock the gate and realise the trailor wasn't there!!! I drive home as
fast as I could expecting to see it in the middle of the road somewhere but
it was still outside my house luckily !!!! On returning to the beach the
wind was light and all over the place, I rigged the 8.5 and waited for
things to improve. At two the sun started to break through and the breeze
seemed to be picking up, by this time the tide had just turned but there
was very little beach to launch from. The wind was light on the inside but
I was planning a bit further out but at this point the sea was horrendous -
so'oooooooooooooooooooooo lumpy :( I discovered I had a small hole in my
sail so came ashore to tape it as David Coles arrived to rig 9.6 on his
formula board. When we went out again the tide had dropped and the sea had
flattened off :) The wind was up and down and swinging direction, so when
it was good it was good - nice flat water and you could even plan to the
beach and then the next run you struggled to get going.Andy Marshall came
down and rigged 7m and had an ok sail.As Andy and I were packing up Steve
Carter came down and planned off the beach but then struggled I think :( So
in the end it was a 5 star session when the wind was up and 2 when it was
not !
